Abu Dhabi Stamps and Postal History

Location:Abu Dhabi
Direction of Mail:Outgoing Mail
Cover Type:Airmail
Comments:An interesting and rare registered cover sent from Abu Dhabi to Aden and franked with 100 Fils. The registration label has been tampered with and could indicate that the Abu Dhabi Post Office ran out of registration labels. In order to deal with their shortage they received a number of “Das Island” registration labels and as they used the registration labels they have obliterated the “Das Island” with pen (like in this case) or by other means. Another cover with the same obliterated label has been seen cancelled on the 16th of February 1969 defining the initial span of the shortage. A true item of postal history value!
Cancellation Date:19-Feb-1969
Recipient Country:Aden
