Description:Large Single Circle “PAID” Official Date-Stamp
Story Behind the Cancellation:An official date-stamps with the inscription “PAID” was registered in the Proof Impression Books in London on November 30th 1966. The date-stamp came into use when the new postal administration commenced its operation in January 1967 and was utilised exclusively for official use, i.e. on NO VALUE stationary. The official use was confined mostly to the Philatelic Bureau. The canceller was struck in red.

Donaldson reports the canceller was still in use in 1972, however, the actual/original handstamp was found in the old Post Office building in 2000 and the date on the handstamp was July 30th 1973 leaving open to the assumption that its last date of use was exactly that date.
